Pinion Shims

Folks,
I am looking for a source for pinion shims. I had a couple of the shims I pulled out come out in pieces. Stacked up they they are only .007" total. But, I'd like to find a source for a couple of sizes (thickness). I've searched the forums and many of the usual suspects. Where are people sourcing these from?

I don’t know if or where proper Rootes shims can be sourced - I suspect they are long ago NLA. I suppose it’s possible that other marques may have shims available that fit? However, for other jobs in the past I’ve just cut my own shims out of shim stock. Grainger sells selection packs of shim stock, so you don’t have to buy whole rolls. Most shims can be cut using a gasket punch set. For larger circumferences I’ve used a lathe to cut an edge on old sockets, then flame hardened the edge and used them as punches. For best results use a steel plate base and a simple hydraulic press to punch the holes in the stock.

I've taken diffs with gears that aren't good apart to salvage these shims. They are reusable and correct
for the car.

Same for me. Was starting to research whether MG / Triumph shim sets would potentially fit, but didn't come to a conclusion. They are at least readily available & sold in different thickness sets. Would appreciate any input if anybody ever used them...

I bought round shims from McMaster-Carr with a close ID to the original ones, and trimmed down the OD (on a shear) to fit.

In the not so distant past I bought a set from Sunbeam Specialties. What I vaguely remember is they came in .003-5-10-15 and 20 sizes.
Does that sound right?

Jan, do you recall which PN# you used? I was looking at MC and saw they had some close. But never took it farther. THX

Bought these on Amazon. Worked great for the outer bearing to adjust the preload, Had to reduce the OD
