New water pump, thermostat and lower hose

I removed it to get what I thought would better alignment of the bracket. All worked fine, but the bracket was not exactly parallel to the front of the motor.
Thanks for chiming in.
I wonder if anyone is running a factory length water pump bolt at the alternator hold down that does not have a spacer.
Just a theory for now, but it makes sense with all I’ve seen during this procedure.

If your one bolt with the alternator bracket is longer than the other bolts, like my setup, then I expect without the spacer the bolt will bottom out in the block hole prior to clamping the pump to the block.

Hey Mike
Thanks — I believe that is correct.
I hope I am not celebrating before the finish line, but I may be happier figuring out how I messed up than doing the job correctly the first time. Odd, I know!
I will post what I find when my gasket arrives.
Be well all
Andrew
