need sunbeam mechanic for engine replacement

Hi Guys, my original 67 engine finally died, and I am probably going to buy teh new short block Rick has in stock at sunbeam specialties- but as much as I wish I could do teh work myself- I just dont have the skill- AT ALL. I am looking for a good shop that could competently do an alpine engine replacement, and according to rick- Quote: "We do have factory new 1725 short blocks, This is a new engine block, crank, rods, & pistons but no cam or oil pump. You will need the other parts from the old engine and is an economical way to get the car back on the road." So I need a reputable company to meld the new short block with whatever needs to be salvaged/machined off the old engine, and then put back it all back together again so I can have a dependable ride again!

I live in teh Sacramento area, and would really prefer to find a shop within 50 miles- but would tow it farther if need be. Can anyone offer some help here- got the name/number of a shop or own a shop that could do the work?

Many thanks,
Steve- emails welcome to thejinglelab@gmail.com

Victoria British has oil pumps.
Unless you trashed your cam, it should be usable to regrind at Delta Cam.
The rest of the parts can probably come from your engine.

I only know of a guy in SoCal who I could recommend for this type of work.

Detlev Hanschke at International Auto Service in Livermore built an engine for my Series II. He mostly works on German stuff, but has done a Bugeye Sprite and some other English stuff in addition to my Alpine.

Hi Stevel,

I have a couple of possible places.

1) British Car Specialists in Stockton. Not quite Sacramento but reasonably close to you. I haven't used them.

In the south Bay Area (Campbell) there's another promising place called British Motorsports. They are literally a short walk away from Sunbeam Specialties - so they could get parts pretty quickly.

Hope this helps.
