Maybe a new baby - 1965 Tiger

I got this in a package deal from an estate sale, along with a trailer load of Sunbeam parts, both Alpine and Tiger stuff. I knew the prior owner and was aware he had made a Tiger from 3 different wrecked ones. It was not represented to me as a Tiger and is registered as a Rootes Sunbeam. I make no claim that it is a real Tiger and I do have a real 1966 Tiger. I have enough parts to complete this car with a lot left over. It is for sale for a reasonable offer, along with a lot of Sunbeam parts. It could be a nice little hot rod project or a race car to play with but not ever a real Tiger.
So, I gather this car is the one DesertRat has been referencing?

There's nothing wrong with putting together 3 wrecked Tigers . As I said before there's more than one car that has a complete rear clip. That's more accurately 1/2 of the car . The MK2 in Malibu had a welded seam completely across the car. As did the one that Norm posted on the CAT forum that was in his old repair garage . Here's a car that got TAC ed . Shown only as an example this car is still in a little straighter shape but the only remaining "Tiger" parts would be the firewall trans tunnel and scuttle. There was also a drag car no VIN number or anything JAL or even a numbered door lock . But it gotta TAC over 2 tries. I only have a picture of the thing on a dragstrip with a S2 hard top. There's a local Alger with a Tiger VIN . Obviously some system is better than no system for authentication .

Yes this is the car Desert Rat was checking on. I just want to be up front about the car's origin(s) an that I am not representing this as a genuine Tiger. There is enough parts to make it a complete car that closely represents a real Tiger. If someone is not a purist and has to have a Tiger looking car AND wants a puzzle to put together, this is your ticket. It would be a lot of work and garage time if you are up to it. I am not asking a lot of money so it would be an easier build for a car guy, maybe a father and son project. It could come with a lot of extra parts that could be sold to help finance the build. I do have an inventory printed up of the extra parts, some of them rare and hard to find items that seem to be selling for high prices on Ebay. I have neither the time or finances to take on this project myself. I was present and observed this car running and driving about 5 years ago, shortly before the clutch froze up and it got parked. At time of his death, former owner had this one and 5 other Tigers on his property, along with a lot of Mustangs in various stages of restoration. I would entertain offers if someone is interested. It does have and Arizona clear title and is registered as a Rootes Sunbeam automobile......doesn't say Tiger anywhere on the title.

Tempting ...... but Arizona is too far from Pennsylvania.

But I'd like to see the list of parts you're made.

Cactus Smasher... That was NOT the car I was checking on. This guy lives up near I-17 & 101

I agree that ... if the guy had a couple of Tigers... I'd have no problem stitching them together.

DR

Just a side note on stitching Tigers together... There are a few Tigers around that ended up with confused identities...real Tigers .. but MKI with MKIA vin...and MKIA with MKII vins.... Be careful between repair and ID swaps.. cars with mixed VIN and JAL.... Can all get quite messy....

Yep. Probably won't have the time, strength and patience to do that anyways. Sometimes my eyes exceed my lifting power.
...
There is one (guaranteed 66 Tiger) barn find... sitting near... and I've been after the guy for 20 years about buying it. He's 84 so who knows.
He was in the process of replacing the engine with a 302... but has the running 260 under a blanket.

Everyone I talk to who wants a Tiger is firm on no project cars. I recently looked at a Tiger with a reverse stamped VIN tag so there's aberrations that are correct.

I've actually been looking for an excuse to visit a pal in Phoenix , what is the poop or scoop ?

Sorry for the late response. Was dealing with a personal surgery and some other family medical issues. That car was sold and delivered locally along with a 5x10 trailer load of extra parts and is now in process of being put back together.....has a long way to go yet but he got all the stuff he needed to make it into a good car at a bargain price.
