Well I guess they had it runnning, but with single stage compressor and single stage turbine it won't develope much thrust or torque. ;)

Although it is sorta novel to make a turbocharger run on it's own.

It looks like they used a leaf blower to get it started.

Well, at least it is doable. Sixty years ago Dad had a guy working for him that was trying to make a jet engine out of a Cord supercharger. One of those never ending "government" jobs. Never had any success. As I remember, these were gear driven, centrifugal units. I have no idea how this would function and suppose a whole lot of fabrication would have been required.

Check these little micro turbines out mounted on a Cri Cri. 150mph cruise with inflight restart capabilities. I was going to build this airplane but the designer will not talk with you if you are from the states. He was sued by the widow of an idiot that thought he could do a roll right on the deck. It's not that he hates Americans it's he hates American attorneys.
