Help needed, Nova Scotia to Bowling Green, KY

I am giving serious consideration to driving from Nova Scotia to Bowling Green, KY to attend United 40. Driving my Singer, a one way drive of roughly 1800 miles. Getting from Nova Scotia to by-passing Boston is not a problem. Then what is the best, safest, probably fastest time wise route from there?
Objective is to get to Bowling Green quickly, 4 days total driving start to finish, arriving Thursday night. Our plan is for scenic, leisurely, 5 or 6 day drive returning home.
Like to drive 'Trail of the Dragon'? route either coming or going.
Any help, hints, or suggestions appreciated.

"North of Boston" suggests I-495 and I-290 to Worcester, MA. From there, you want to stay "North of NYC". I would suggest:

I-84 from Worcester, MA to Scranton, PA (crossing the Hudson River at Newburgh, about 50 miles North of NYC)
I-81 from Scranton, PA to Hagerstown, MD
I-68 from Hagerstown, MD to Morgantown, WV
I-79 from Morgantown, WV to Charleston, WV
I-64 from Charleston, WV to Lexington, KY
The Bluegrass Parkway (KY 9002) from Lexington, KY to Elizabethtown, KY
I-65 from Elizabethtown, KY to Bowling Green, KY

The "Tail of the Dragon" is about 4.5 hours southeast of Bowling Green via US-231, KY-25, I-40, US-321, TN-72 and US-129. Going home from there, I would suggest:

US-129 North to Knoxville, TN
I-40 from Knoxville, TN to I-81 (middle of nowhere)
I-81 to Scranton, PA
I-84 from Scranton, PA to Worcester, MA

It is a LOT of Interstate highway driving, but back roads would take a LOT longer.

Once registration opens and people begin to sign up, we can keep an eye out for people who are driving their Rootes cars. Hopefully, you might be able to join a convoy at some point, so you are not "flying solo."

Look forward to seeing you...and your car in Bowling Green.
