Tim R

Silver Level Sponsor
This is the fourth in a series of five videos of John 'The Box' Roseby rebuilding a Sunbeam Alpine (Series V) Gearbox and Overdrive. This is the fourth instalment covering how to correctly strip down a Laycock De Normanville Overdrive unit. At the time of making this video John has 44 years of experience of rebuilding Rootes Gearboxes. He was trained by Laycock DeNormanville to rebuild their overdrives.
There may be other ways to do this work but this is John's way. Please regard this video as a guide showing how the work can be done, If you choose to do this work yourself please take all necessary steps to ensure your safety. Do not attempt this unless you are confident that you can undertake a task of this kind and you have access to (or can make) the special tools, dummy shafts etc that you will require. If you would like to receive sequential instructions on how John does this job please feel free to e-mail me at
