Hi all,
Is there a close match for the font that Rootes used for the yellow and blue signs? Specifically the word 'Rootes'. I can deform the text OK, but I'm struggling to find anything that looks like the font they used. Just thought I check before I go tracing it.
Cheers,
Paul.

There are at least two fonts they used, Paul. Below is another one.

What you are looking for is a 'slab serif' font - those sort of fonts have the wide tangs at the base and tops of the letters.

Thanks for that bit of info Kevin. I'm looking for the font they used on the blue & yellow logo specifically. I'll search on the 'slab serif' font style and see what is out there.
Cheers,
Paul.

I wouldn't base it off a modern patch. Or some downloaded internet EPS...

Use an original brochure or the cover of the workshop manual.

When I made some stickers and shirts I traced the original logo off the factor literature

That's the best way. Do that and build an alphabet from it. I was a sign painter and had to do that on a lot of projects.
