Biggest problem that helps create rust is the owners do not keep the drain holes free of foreign matter.

I frequently attend to the drains. I have even added additional holes under the Alpines I own as a precautionary measure. After coming into ownership of a few Alpines that have been treated badly (rust in about every place possible and some beyone an economically restoration.

Yes, the door strips catch trash & moisture, but attention to detail is necessary to maintain your Alpine in a lasting condition.
