door car patterns

I''ve made some in the past but it seems very reasonable to purchase these from:
Sunbeam Specialties in California or Classic Sunbeam in New York

SUNBEAM
1 set GT door blanks $120.00 (uncovered)
1 set of 3 piece interior panels, uncovered $50.00

NOTE 1: I just purchased these "GT" pieces for my Big RED V6 GT. Prices are even less for the ST Alpines.

NOTE 2: GT panels will have the metal stiffeners.

I made a template from 1/8" ABS for the GT door panel. I used a ratty original fiberboard as master.
Made door panels from ABS, kept the template.
You are welcome to stop by with some raw material and use my template.

I’m in Canada. Might be a bit of a drive from British Columbia but I do love that area.
If you could take some straight down photos with a tape measure, it would help my process

I redid the door cards on my series V and saved the old panels. If I am not mistaken, I traced them ( proper hole spacing and all) onto some paper and put them in the mail for another member. Hopefully they will see the posting, saved the templates and can send them to you.

If you are interested, I could do the same for you, but I have a pressing family matter so It could take some time.
Pic 1 iis my redo. I sourced new materials from Home depot ( the new cards)-and a fabric store ( material and foam). I went by the seat of my pants and while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I was very pleased with my results. I did this in 2016 and the redo still looks great- in my opinion.
I was lucky in that all the bits and packing was still there, so I had a good map to follow. As you can see bits were warped and had water damage as well as the material had given up to on the old bits — probably 1966. Let me know if I can help.

The new one looks great. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. If you find time to trace out the old ones again I would appreciate
I could transfer you some money for materials and shipping.

Thanks
Brian

What I will try to do is trace a paper template for you to follow.
Is that all you need?

The plan would be to fold it into a largish envelope ( 8.5x 11) size and put it in the mail. If that is what you are looking for send me your address.
This could take awhile as I have a family matter to address, but know that I will get to it as quickly as I am able.

That would be perfect and no rush as the car is about to go into be painted just planing ahead

Hey Brian
Got it traced and packaged/ addressed and almost ready to send.
Not sure why, but I left you some material ( paper ) to shape the board a little more precisely. My old boards are a little damaged and I had to anticipate certain curves and manage some warping. As I traced them the best I could, you should make the lines I drew disappear as they mark the outer edge. Also, all the holes are marked ( as factory) but not cut out as I do not know how you plan to connect the new panels to the doors. I was fortunate in that all the original connection bits were in tact so I simply reused them and are in great shape. When it is time to fit the panels you make, know that there are soft cushioned spacers that should also be included before setting the door cards in place. I will try to coach you the best I can when you are ready for that stage.
Questions? Ask away.
I will let you know when the tracing is Canada bound.
Be well
Andrew

Thank you and your help is very much appreciated as I said the car is going in for paint hopefully next week and then the fun will start. Can I send you any money for the shipping?

Thanks
Brian

Hey Brian
Dropped off at Post Office— it will head out this evening.
No need to pay anything— pay it forward— your favorite charity, add it to a restaurant tip, the seasonal bell ringer’s bucket. It was not that much and would probably cost more to pay me back than the actual cost of shipping.
Enjoy it— and if I can be of help, just ask.
Andrew
