Distributor gear orientation?

Donation Time
On my block, that has never run since rebuild, the larger portion of the circle on top of the drive gear is below center. My rotor points more toward 7 or 8. Will it run as expected if the plug wires are adjusted 180*?
 
The distributor can be off 180 degrees and the spark plug wires can be adjusted accordingly. Picture of my series V.
