I am very sad to pass on this news to everyone.
Dan was a Southern gentleman, a husband and a father, a veteran and a friend to many around the world. He loved Sunbeams and their owners and would share his knowledge with anyone who was interested. If you had car problems Dan was there to help you fix it and if not fixable he would even put your car on his trailer and take it to safety.
I will sure miss you Dan!
Funeral information will be posted here when I receive it.

This is such sad news. Our community has lost a giant and all of us who knew him - even if only electronically - have lost a friend.

Those of us who attended the recent Invasion met Dan's son Ernie. Following is a note some of us just received from him:

Gentleman —

This is Ernie Richardson, Dan Richardson’s son.

Dad finished the race today about 10:15 this morning and is with the Lord.

I’ve included in this text those of the Sunbeam group whose numbers I have handy but if you would pass the word through the forum I would appreciate it.

A service will be held at the M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC. The service will likely be the week of June 9th. As we have more information we will share that.

On behalf of our family and on behalf of dad we want to convey how deeply we all appreciate the friendships you had with dad. The joy and satisfaction he had knowing you all was priceless to him.

(Feel free to share this message and my number with any of the Sunbeam group.)

I promised to send Ernie a link to this thread, so please feel free to post any thoughts or remembrances here.

So very sad. I suspected he was ailing since he had not posted in over a week. Always amazed at how generous he was with his time and talents, and encouragement in all things Sunbeam. Even my dumbest questions he answered with patience. Loved to hear him talk of his military service in Bermuda and Iceland. Was great to see him and his son at Cayce. I hope I have that much energy and wit when I am in my 80s.
God bless you Dan.

I can't believe he is gone. He was one of the nicest people I knew. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to meet him in person. After he mentioned his cancer, I was going to attend the Invasion and hopefully meet him finally, but my work did not cooperate. I still felt like he was a really good friend even though I only knew him from the forum, many emails, and a handful of phone calls. He gave so much to the community that I was glad to help him with some projects, such as V6 temperature senders, a modified aftermarket fuel sender, and hosting his content on my web site. I'm going to really miss him, his wisdom, and his stories.

Mike

I never had the pleasure of meeting Dan - I wish I had - but we’ve corresponded here on the forum and I always had the utmost respect for him and his Sunbeam knowledge. We always seem to lose the best. God speed, Dan.

I had corresponded with Dan on the forum about our Sunbeams and often we had emailed about other things outside of automotive interest about our travels and experiences.

Dan was an amazing and interesting guy, friendly, supportive and helpful. He was worldly and just a good guy, very very sad news.

Rest in peace Dan.

Dan rescued me more than once but that was not the reason I liked and respect him. He was just a good guy and one you enjoyed being around ad talking to. I will miss the phone calls, parts swapping but most of all his friendship..
Rest in peace, Dan.

From the other end of the globe; shock and great sadness to hear this news,

A man I never met, but in the Sunbeam world he felt like the guy next door.

I think I can speak for all of us down here, we will miss his inputs and acknowledge that we have lost an irreplaceable resource.

Condolences to family and members.

I don't have the words. I didn't know him outside of this forum and reading this felt like getting punched in the stomach. I am thankful for his kindness and generosity. My humble condolences to his loved ones and friends.

Absolutely great guy he put the Gent in Gentleman. I'm glad I was able to meet him at the SUNI in Missouri.

Good man. Served SAOCA longer than any other officer I can remember.

I’ll miss you buddy. Thanks for everything.

Fare thee well Dan , a gear heads gear head . Thank you for the advice , the headers & NLA parts
you produced for Sunbeams . Grateful to have met & had conversations w/ you in Missouri .
You’ll be missed , but never forgotten .

Dan helped me out over the years when I needed parts. Always seemed like he was the first to reach out in the parts needed thread.

Thanks for helping me keep'em on the road Dan.

What a loss to the group. Dan helped me out a number of times with my S1. His rear shock conversion kit was a big improvement over the originals. We'll miss him very much. Bless you Dan.
