Columbia, SC Invasion April 4+5 2025

The block of rooms at our host hotel has been sold out and time has expired so they can't add more rooms to the block.
You can still get a room at the host hotel but it will cost a little more.
Don't call the national reservations phone number-use this number
803-957-5000.
And get your registration form mailed soon as March 22 is the deadline to avoid the higher cost.

Tech Sessions at the Invasion!
One of our long time members will be displaying the latest Rebel wiring kits and answer any questions you may have about installing one in your Sunbeam. He also rebuilds front brake calipers and will talk about them as well.
These will take place on Friday April 4th in the parts room around 4 PM.

Red car waiting on clutch master cylinder parts. Should be ready to go. I think purple car is drivable! I finally got this series III to idle....We bought this car last July, but had our share of problems. Like would not crank when hot, could not remove starter, trouble with alternator mounting, water pump seizing, headers did not fit, stripped bolts, stripped fuel fittings....But that is how I learn stuff, by being challenged. Anyway, hope to bring two Alpines, hope to see everybody soon!
 
I went round and round with the idle problem. First I found a big vacuum leak where they had blocked off the PCV fitting. I fixed that and it made it worse! Then I found the carbs flooding, that is they dripped fuel from the discharge cluster while idling. I fixed that and it made it worse! Then I found that the idle restrictor Jets were plugged and I fixed that. So what was happening was there was no idle fuel, but the flooding was adding enough fuel to make it run, and the vacuum leak was balancing out the flooding!
 
30 Sunbeams registered so far! It is not too late to register or you can register at the gate on Saturday. Don't forget to bring your parts to sell or trade at the swap meet on Friday at the host hotel-we have a great time there all day long.
Car not ready to bring? Come join us anyway, the cars are just a good excuse to meet up with new or old friends!
 
Red series V passed road test after clutch MC overhaul! Now for shakedown cruise with Purple car (It jumps out of top gear!).....Have mapped out route with stops for ethanol-free gas, food....
 
If anyone is planning on pulling their rear hubs, I have the club's pulling kit. I actually have the one for steel wheels, as well as the one for wire wheels. If anyone is in need in the near future, I can bring either to the Invasion in Columbia. Just let me know.

OK, I have a T5 for the car that jumps out of gear, hoping to buy lotsa goodies from Dan R; moving to "Wanted" thread, "T5" thread.

I have never used the proper tools, would kinda like to see them, so as to make mine better...
 
I miss Bill Blue. Every little thing I do on these cars, I think of Bill. Then I remember that he is gone......thinking I want to wear Blue for the event. Deb likes the idea, what do y'all think? Got some snazzy duds, in blue?

Todd and I helped to set up the car show field this morning. 35+ Sunbeam spaces and room for more. Over 100 other British cars will be there too.
Bring your shorts and sun block as it will be sunny skies and near 90 degrees!

Hard to believe. Haven't been on this web site since last year. Time is SO short. Long before Jim E passed, I was SO prepared to pick up on debate points we'd discussed on a long ride to Ohio. Not to be. I can remember 10,000 things Bob and Bill had to say. I hardly agreed with many of them, but I loved where they were coming from, especially Bob's originality leaning. Last year, the first year I wasn't working and able to attend this event, a tree fell on a rental house I owned the Wednesday before. I'm less than a mile from "ground zero." Again, hard to believe. YOU are SO appreciated, Mr Eric. And Dan R. More than you guys will ever know. As is everyone else.
