Color Code 109 Orchid Green

The original color of my car was Orchid Green, the color shown in the photo. When I bought the car in 1978 it had already been repainted.
At that time it had a very thick dark maroon paint job that was flaking badly. (An Earl Schieb job?) I repainted it Midnight Blue in 1996. It has not been resprayed since. If I ever repaint the car I will be tempted to return it to the original color. They are very rare and I have only ever seen one in this color.

They passed many years ago, but Jack & Ruth Bash of the Bay Area used to drive their 109 Alpine all over the west coast and Canada.

Almost embarrassed to admit, but I've always been partial to Orchid Green. And of course the last Tiger built was Orchid Green. Tended to be late in Alpine and Tiger production.

Paul,

I would suspect the original colour would be under the heater core/Bonnet latch cover...

Graham V. Has the MK2 in the UK that's 109 . He'd be the go to guy if say for the an accurate color formula.

Alternatively find the nearest baby that ate too many peas and vomited ...then take it to Dulux for a colour match

The british guys call it "goose poo" which I believe is a better description ;) ,
We also have a 109 coloured SV in our club. Just looks great and we love it...

Wow, remember there's no accounting for taste. There's something to be said for the floor guys saying of don't paint yourself into a corner. I guess that's why resale red and shades of BRG and new cars resale white.... well except for the clear coated primer look that's now popular;)

I have seen people go quiet & crank their heads to see an Alpine drive into a show in either #68 Autumn Gold or #109 Orchid Green.
Why an owner would repaint the car in a red or a BRG, with those rare factory colors, is inexplicable.
