Clutch Master

With a leaking clutch master on an early Series-V / 395001479, how do I determine the correct replacement?
I've read of various bores that must relate to the slave cylinder.
Brake fluid is creating some havoc around the pedal area but don't want to knock down the car during driving season.
If an original is unavailable will consider sending it out for re-sleeving during the off season.
The photo is the best available from my office seat.

The original clutch slave bore is 1". Original clutch master bore is 5/8". I'm not aware of original master or slave replacements being available. You can go with an aftermarket replacement or sleeve what you have. Since your current setup works, I'd go the sleeving route. It is more expensive than sourcing an aftermarket replacement, though. Many people change out clutch parts and then end up with a non-working setup.

Thanks for the heads up. Laying up the car over winter to sleeve ok but now is driving season and I never seem to stretch her legs enough.
But I was able to locate an original replacement from the UK.

I'm curious - is a UK parts seller offering original replacements or was it a one-time NOS purchase?

Thanks,
Mike

NOS may shortly put me back in the same position.

Be aware.

The sV clutch master and slave cylinders use a larger line between between them.

IIRC, the early versions are 3/16", while the sV is 1/4".

It's better to stick with the originals, if possible. If not, then exchanging all three - master, line, and slave - will also work.

Finding bubble flare brake line sizing adapters might be a challenge.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for the pointers.
I purchased the vehicle completed and have been sorting out various issues over the past 6 years.
Having chased down obscure fittings on prior occasions it's certainly educating.
Here's a look at the current set up.

It looks like you have some adapter on the line connection. Below is my setup. I sourced the replacement clutch line from either Sunbeam Specialties or Classic Sunbeam. It came with the flares and connectors in place.

Once again, second place. LOL

Chris,

The adapter between the line and master is probably an indication something has been changed.

Maybe to a double flare style brake line.

Just realize when taking things apart, stuff isn't really the same as when it left the factory.

Be prepared,
