Car wearing VIN B9472548

The car in the pic below appeared on eBay about a week ago with a Buy-It-Now price of $99,995.00. It wears the VIN of a B9472548 LRX FE Tiger but has numerous inconsistencies that are concerning, some of which are curious and others concerning. The listing has very little write-up but has gotten a lot of chatter on the CAT club site and the general consensus is that it is likely a re-bodied Alpine. The seller, Exotic Car Trader, was contacted several times over the last week and as of October 31, 2025, has since pulled the auction as “no longer available”.

However, the car remains for sale on their website still claiming to be a Tiger:

Frankly, with authentic Tiger prices being so soft right now, there isn't a prayer this car will fetch the asking price. But perhaps an unsuspecting buyer will do a little research on provenance before getting screwed.

The number of really well done "Wooden Nickels" is quite small.
The term is taken from the Book of Norm. Although we little people aren't told of the cars that fail a TAC inspection if guess that number is quite small. Most of the ones I've seen in the last 15 years have had a "There I fixed it flavor."

After looking at the pictures, About the only genuine Tiger part I am sure of is the VIN tag.
Maybe the rear axle and transmission.
That thing does not deserve to called an Alger.
Its just an Alpine V8.

Except Alpine V8 was the European market Tiger. ;)

This car is pretty but of all the Tiger colors only seen 3 in a metal flake orange kind of like this and one in a construction cone color....
The ,2 I liked the most were a Lamborghini like frosty tangerine orange , but gotta be a full on modified car. 5 speed and Dale's front end.

Well, after a few weeks missing, this car has appeared again, this time through SBX/Cars and is already bid to $42,500. Throughout the description, it is repeatedly mentioned as "original" and a "Tiger". Unsurprisingly, the seller (SBX), which is owned by Supercar Blondie, responds to an inquiry that "The Seller did not obtain a Tiger certificate of authenticity". SBX has been notified that the car has credibility issues and was encouraged to Google "B9472548 Tiger" for recent history and club comments. The Alger has also been brought up on the FB Sunbeam Tiger/Alpine Classifieds group and received critical comments. Hopefully, this seller with pull this sale before someone gets screwed. Here's a link to the listing:
