Can someone advise on Wheel Offset

Ok, so I found a semi close design...BUT, the smallest offering is a 15x6.5.

I'm sure it would be too much to believe that I might be able to get a 6.5 with 38mm of offset under the front?

Would 40mm be better or worse?

Anyone?

Someone really needs to create a formula for this so I can just plug in the numbers and have the computer laugh at me.

A 6-1/2" rim width alloy wheel with a +38mm offset has a backspace of about 5-1/4".

Depending on who you want to believe, the maximum allowable backspace (limited by interference with the upper ball joint) for a 15" wheel is only about 4.5". Depending on the specific Alpine, you might get away with 4-5/8" or possibly even 4-3/4", BUT A BACKSPACE OF 5-1/4" WILL INTERFERE WITH THE UPPER BALL JOINT.

And yes, an offset of 40mm would be even worse.

For a 6-1/2" rim width alloy wheel, a maximum backspace of 4-1/2" works out to a maximum positive offset of 20mm.

I like mine...

The first two are very nice. They are 15x7 4 bolt 4.25 108mm off set 20 same as the 4 bolt Mustang wheels

The next are what I'm running, 15x7 wheels with P195 55 15s tires. 4 bolt 4.25 108mm with 20 mm off set and have absolutely no clearance problems.

Ron's wheels on the internet is where I made the purchase. After looking and looking and looking for the Cragar mags from the 60's -70's, I found these.

They are clean with out groves and hard to clean places.

My choice:D You must make yours;)

Happy hunting,

The first two are very nice. They are 15x6 108mm off set.

108mm (actually 107.95) is not the offset, it is the diameter of the bolt pattern.

Dan,

In the interest of information, what are the offsets on your 15x6 wheels?

Probably 15-20mm and almost certainly no less than 10mm or more than 25mm.

Barry, Just dug out my spare and here are the numbers:

15x7
VW-NHW DOT-T
SAE J2530
OFFset 20
MAX WHEEl LOAD 2100 LBS

They are 4 bolt 4.25 spacing 108mm

Hope this helps somebody,

Hummmmm

Dan,

I don't hate that look at all...not really what I was looking for but something to think about. I'm guessing your spare is a rear as its a 7in? They must offer that rim is a 6in to fit the front?

PIC's are of the 15x7 20mm offset

These are the wheels and tires on my '67 SV Commodore Blue Alpine.

The tires are P195 55 15's mounted on wheels 15"x 7" with 4 bolt 4.25 108mm with 20mm offset.

I do not use any spacers. I did trim a very small piece of the valance (tapered from 1/2" to nothing about 3" in length) for the front tires to clear when making sharp turns.

One PIC (Rear underneath) shows the clearance of approximately 1" between the tire and the springs. More than adequate clearance.

The PIC of the Front fender looking straight down speaks for it's self. Only the slightest portion of the tire can be seen.

To each his own in choice of wheels;)

The measurements provided work for me,

Wow interesting

Dan,

Thanks for posting the info and pics. I'm excited to know that there are a few fitment options I had not considered yet. I'll keep searching for more options and update or ask questions as needed!!

WooHoo.....

Finally found my wheels

Wanted to thank everyone for the assistance with the wheels I have a set on order from the factory!

I did have to sacrifice the super low weight but was able to get the right style and fitment for the Alpine. Here are the Wheels...

https://goo.gl/photos/sej9DQwGFChZ34Mj9

These are Rota Grid Concave, 15x7, 4x108, 20mm, 73mm, White Finish

I need to do a bit more searching but I'm not sure the importance of hub spacers for the alpine. Anyone?
