BRITISH CAR DAY - OCTOBER 19th - BRITISH CAR CLUB of CHARLESTON

Dear British Car enthusiasts...

We are halfway into the summer months and if you’re like me, you can’t wait for fall weather to be upon us. And with the fall weather come some very popular British Car events, like British Car Day in Charleston, SC.

This is a reminder for all British car owners to check out the British Car Club of Charleston’s premier event... British Car Day on October 19th at Palmetto Island County Park in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

If you’re thinking about going or planning to attend, I recommend registering for the show either for the weekend's events or just for the day, because there is no vehicle registration on show day.

On Friday, October 18th, the BCCC has planned a drive through Francis Marion National Forest to historic Hopsewee Plantation near Georgetown where a tour and lunch are available. This well-preserved plantation offers a rich history, architectural significance, and connections to prominent figures in American history.

Our host hotel, Hyatt Place, at Towne Center in Mt. Pleasant is the site of the Friday evening reception for British Car Day. Join fellow car owners and exhibitors for a casual evening before the Saturday show. Towne Center offers upscale shopping along with several dining options and a trendy wine bar for additional socialization.

The featured marque for this year’s British Car Day is Sunbeam, and the cars of the Rootes Group, with a special celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Sunbeam Tiger. These cars will be the 2024 Spotlight Marque. Also, if you’re a Sunbeam enthusiast, you’ve probably heard of Alex Gabbard, author, lecturer, and automotive historian who will be speaking on show day about the history of Sunbeams.

In total, 180 vintage and classic British cars are expected to fill the show field on Saturday. Well-known marques like Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Jaguar, Lotus, MG, Mini, Morgan, and Triumph, will share the field with the Sunbeams, as well as rare examples of Alvis, Bentley, Rolls Royce, TVR, and more. This will be a spectacular event, so don’t miss your opportunity to be part of the fun and friendship found in the southern hospitality of British Car Day.
