Brake Rotors

9.85" later series I think

Correct, the rotor diameters were 9.5" for S-I & S-II Alpines and 9.85" for S-3, S-IV and S-V Alpines.

In the "I wonder how that happened" category:

WSM-124 / General Data / Page 23 correctly lists the front disc diameter as 9.5" for S-I & S-II Alpines and 9.85" for S-3 Alpines, but does not show the front disc diameter for S-IV Alpines.

WSM-145 / General Data / Page 24 incorrectly shows "Front brakes-diameter" as 10.3" and makes no mention of which models are included. FWIW, it is not possible to use a brake rotor with a diameter greater than 9.85" in combination with the factory S-IV / V calipers and the factory S-IV / V front suspension uprights (aka, spindles).
