Something you don't see often

My father knew Jack Brabham well -In fact Dad introduced Chris Amon to Jack in New Zealand in the early 1960's -this was instrumental in Chris getting his F1 and Le Mans career under way . As I write this an original set of Jacks racing overalls sit in my wardrobe about 20 feet away from me. Dad had a lot of time for Jack both as a driver and a person -Not quite so much time for Stirling Moss who he also met . As an interesting aside Chris Amons daily driver in England was a Mark 1 Tiger he brought over there -He brought it back to New Zealand after he retired from racing and used to use it to herd the cows to the cowshed on his family dairy farm !!

There was a nice artcile in period about Chris and his tiger in Europe driving to F1 and other events. He apparently owned the car for a year before he realised it had a soft top as he never took the hardtop off.

The first Alpine raced in New Zealand by Bob Stewart had a brabham prepared engine with the twin weber setup and brabham prep head and cams. ..

Wonder if the alpine or Chris's Tiger have survived?

Doane advertised 128hp iirc in 1963...
My 1592 on twin SU did put down 104.3 at the wheels... decent DCOE webers would probably add maybe 10 to that....
I know some modern race 1592+ claim 150... assume that's gross flywheel.

This was on a car recently found.
A bit different to the tags I've seen on hillamans and some triumphs. This is an early Alpine.mmexport1783356623621.jpg

Oh the Tiger survived alright -it sold a few years ago and I looked at it with a view to buying it - Its farm use had taken a toll and It had been restored by a local specialist MG restorer who had used some of the MG replacement body panels they fabricated to repair the sills -which to me didn't look quite right so I passed but the car sold and I believe is still somewhere relatively local.
