Alpine S2 intake on a Hillman 1390 engine

Someone with a Hillman with a 1390 engine asked me if the stock aluminum intake off an Alpine Series II that handles twin carbs will fit his car. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The S2 intake fits the Alpine S 3-5 very well. My Venezia has that setup with 2 Weber downdraft carbs. Robert

Can you post a picture please ? Would like to see which Weber downdraughts fit the S2 intake originally made to match the Zeniths...

Great, thanks. You must be almost the only one running such a combo on the Zenith manifold worldwide. They were appearantly factory fitted on Ford 1.6/2l Transit/ Capri & certain Saab engines.
Wonder about the comparative performance/ power output of the 2x 34 Webers vs. 2x 36 Zeniths. Weber features a 29mm venturi while certain Zeniths came with up to 30mm. Interesting...

That is great set up Jaars and probably very practical I'm curious as to the jetting you used as I'm thinking of the same setup on my Alpine.

As I recall, there was considerable interest in this combination twenty or so years ago. One guy even posted a photo of his setup, but I'm not even sure he even ran it.

There were also aftermarket twin carb manifolds for the iron head.. but they are probably rarer than the sII rapier one.
