A4LD Floor Shifters

Is anybody familiar with the mechanism? Barb would like to have a shifter that does scream "automatic". I found a universal floor shifter kit on Ebay. Costs only 90 bucks, looks like a manual shifter and is listed for a bunch of different trannys, including the C4 and C6. But not the A4LD. Is there any reason a shifter that works on a C4 would not work with the A4LD?

Me, I know zip about auto trannys. Oh that's right. This morning I learned they are heavy and leak oil like a mo fo at the slightest provocation.

DanR and I spent Tuesday going through junkyards looking for shifters, bell housings and radiator fans. Dan discovered that 90's Escort automatic floor shifters have the same shift pattern as the Aerostar A4LD shifter. While it is not the style I was looking for, it is a neat looking unit, much nicer than the clunky Aerostar type. We will definitely give them a hard look. If they pass the Barb test we'll probably use one of them.
