Does this model share the same steering arrangement as the Alpine?

Not really. IIRC, the coupe is rear steer and uses the same type steering box, but it's very different from that point.

First, it's MacPherson strut suspension, not double wishbones.

Second, the single point control arm is guided by a radius arm.

Third, the anti-roll bar is mounted in a more conventional manner - body and control arm.

Lastly, the linkage between steering box and strut would remind you of the steering in a Chevy "square body" pickup truck (tie rods and ends, idler arm, pitman arm, and crossover bar), except it all runs beneath the engine.

In the video, you can get just a flash of the left side linkage on a RHD car at the 1:55 mark.

Good catch.

The North American models were Alpine GT and Alpine, instead of following the UK's naming convention of Rapier and Alpine. This was probably done by Chrysler for the same reason as when ALL Rootes imports became "Sunbeams," to make the import numbers to seemingly have a larger market share.

Fifty odd years on, it seems all Arrow range NA coupes have become - generically - Alpine GT's.

The GT's were identified by the "GT" badge on the B-pillar.

The car listed on CL says "GT", but doesn't appear to be one. The Rapier in your video has what looks like the Rootes insignia on the B pillar and looks to be the case for the listed Alpine as well. In your video of the Rapier the guy mentions "has been fitted with bigger Weber 40s". My understanding was that only the Rapier H120 had the twin Webers and Holbay (the "H" in H120), modified engine. This Rapier may be one modified toward the direction of an H120?

Studying the history of Rootes and how they re-used model names and switched up which models fell under which badges (Sunbeam, Hillman, Singer, Chrysler, Talbot and Commer), in different countries is enough to make your head spin.

Deceased club member Bob Webb had what I thought was a 1969 Alpine GT with twin Stromberg CDSEs, differerent intake manifold than series 5 Alpine, GT on the B pillar and not Holbay mod engine. Two photos of his car below. They slanted the engine to allow more room on the carbs side.

The car for sale is incorrectly labeled as a GT. It is the Coupe model of the fastback Alpine. Single carb, cast iron head (no aluminum pan), fewer gauges, simpler seats. Runs very smoothly, but only about 70hp. Way back when, I had two of them as daily drivers. This one looks sweet - hope it finds a good home!
