Hard to say Rootes used leftover parts from one car to the next, I would guess this would be a transtion car, or some one just replaced the trunk lid with what ever they could get?

George the early tansition cars had the round boot. The late MKI's went to cross over body, square bonnet and doors, round boot. The early MKIA's had the same body, round boot and had the spec plate removed and 4 rivets in the scuttle holding down nothing!

You cant really just fit a square corner boot onto a round cornered body and keep the square edge on the operable panel.

There could be a few explinations, replaced the rear clip, replaced the boot and managed to mod the body to accept it.. but why would you do that instead of just rounding the boots corners?

Perhpas the chassis nu,ber is not correct for the car.. you would need to have a good look at the car to work out what has gone on.
