2 Questions

During my ongoing HLM resto I'm now stumbling over 2 questions:

1) False floor - Have there been any dampening pads/ foams on the rear underside of the false floor ? The surface which is resting on the rear upright panel wood cant. My orginal piece shows some light remanents there:






2) Area around the fuel tank cap

Did all HLM's have the small V- notch apparantly acting as fuel spill guide to the outside ? Unfortunately previous owner cutted the one on mine

very fond of you & much appreciated.

1) If your 2 false floors show no residue it must be a PO modification on mine. Perhaps a personal anti noise/ shatter countermeasure. Anyway conclusion is I won't put anything there.

2) Would assume your red roof is from a late HLM. If so mine should also not have the little "V" shaped drain channel. Very helpful for me to get it done right

1) No noise / chatter products on my floor.
2 No V drain channel here
I regard my car as original and never bodged. Has been in the family since 1972

Wow Jerry, thanks. That confirms a gas drain channel was in fact existing. In my case on a very late HLM roof though. Despite a projected useage benefit I instructed my glassfibre expert to redo it without. Should be easier for getting it into shape.

P.S. Always love to see this hand -/ coachbuilt gas flap stay mechanism...

Interesting your HLM is a "very late roof." I don't know how to explain the difference between my Promotional and my Production Harrington Le Mans.
