2.8l Four Barrel Manifold DIY

I am not clear on why he set the manifold up on an angle before milling. Is the stock carb mounting surface on an angle relative to the manifold itself? It's been years (decades?) since I had mine apart, and I don't recall there being a noticeable angle.
Although the adaptor he showed isn't super thick, it might be enough to mess with hood clearance on an Alpine - some air cleaner creativity might be needed.
All in all very interesting video - looking forward to seeing the finished product.
 
Engines are set in the car with about a 3 degree incline. Non race manifolds are usually angled so the carburetor sits level in the vehicle.
I'm building this to fit in an MGB so height is a concern for me as well.
