1962 Series II - Soft Top Replacement

1962300

Bronze Level Sponsor
I will soon need to replace the soft top, along with as many weatherstrip seals as possible.

Any referrals on the best source for a factory correct & good fitting top are appreciated.
Any referrals on the best place to order weatherstrip seals and / or advice on installing them, would be great.

I will assume that I will need to find an upholstery shop (in Southern California) to do the install.
Unless you all advise that is not that difficult to install.

Thanks & Happy New Year!

Disclaimer: I have never put a soft top on a Sunbeam Alpine.
I have watched the video on the S V soft top install and, to me , it appears loaded with pitfalls and potential for a mess and or money down the tube. It can be done and I might actually try at some point. That said, given the state of affairs, it would be equally challenging to find a shop experienced or capable of a quality install. Maybe someone on the forum could recommend a shop in your area.
Also: Not knowing the specific requirements ( bits and pieces) of what your car will need, you should probably give the good people at Sunbeam Specialties a call and give their catalog a scan for ideas.
Good luck!!!!

Early series tops are not for the novice. They are very challenging to get right, you need to punch ALOT of holes in just the right place to have it come out respectable looking. Sunbeam Specialties will sell you a nice Robbins top and all the seals you'll need. You'll then require the help of someone knowledgeable to do the install. Later series tops are pretty straight forward, early ones are not. There are some nice pics in earlier threads on this subject, check them out.

If anyone has a suggestion for a soft top installer in the Southern California area, please yell :).
Thanks!

Robbins top is in Oxnard, California and if they don't do it they may know who does.
Thanks for this info!
Their website has a "Find an Installer" button.
Seems they have referrals for their product installation line very near me.
Thanks again!
