Looking for the optional Batwing air cleaner for the dual zenith carbs. I'm running the bug catchers at present and would like to have a real filtration system on the car. .. Complete or parts and in good shape.

I'm also looking for those little "Hockey Sticks" for the inside of the door

...... Thanks, David

There are repro hockey sticks for sale in the UK...lst original bakerlite ones are broken or fragile. I'll try and find a link .. but search eBay UK with the term sunbeam +

As for batwing.. you'd have to rejet the carbs as they will become rich.. hence the filter equipped cars have a different spec.

You could make a set of pancake filters like the period after markets from a set of SU or Stromberg filters.

The "Bug catchers" do work better than one would normally expect. You just need to treat them correctly means a periodically wash out with fresh fuel and a light spray with filter oil. With the batwing or any other low deck chrome pancake you'll considerably loose air flow and therefore power. Rejetting will adjust the mixture, but again less flow. Would regard it only viable for really dusty environments like living in a desert or such. That's why Rootes offered this setup mainly for those areas....

Thanks Bernd.st ... Good point ... Maybe just to have it in case or for the parts collection then! .... David

Thanks Molly ... I saw the one on ebay but it's missing the rest of the canister for the filter so the purchase price is a little steep for an incomplete unit. I think Rick Guest (Guesties Garage) makes those aluminum ones .... I'll have to PM him about a set.

The choice is yours. I'm running the "Bug catchers" on my S1 for 30+ years & many miles now w/o any noticable negative impact on engine wear...

That's good to know bernd_st. ... I red some where that they allow a lot of crud in and are bad for the cylinders. ... An ol' guy told me once ... if it don't make the car faster it's got no business being on it;)

I picked up one about 6months ago
Molly ...yours is more complete and chromed with the complete canister and it looks like the original mounting bracket though I can't see it completely. ... Okay ...next question .... How much did ya pay?
