1954 Sunbeam Alpine... my heart cries.

Can this one even be saved? Hate seeing Rootes cars like this.

Despite the terrible state it looks like the real sports one with it's louvered front hood. Certainly worth saving...

Anything, given enough time and money can be saved. This one looks worse than it probably is.
Mostly looks complete and even has a new windscreen!

Whenever I see something like this, I always think about how it once was shiny and new, and the first owner was so proud of it. Sad to see it in such a state.

I recently re-discovered a car in Pittsburgh that I once owned in the 1980's - a 1954 Swallow Doretti, chassis #216. I had purchased it from the fellow who imported it, I got it running nicely and enjoyed driving it. After a couple of years I sold it on to a gent who was going to further restore it. The current state I found it, however, was depressing... it has been stored in a shed, with a leaking roof... there's almost nothing left to restore. Tragic.

For more information on Swallow Doretti -
Doretti #216 when I owned it, and when I found it a few months ago. *sigh*

That’s why this Alpine spoke to me… somewhere there’s a previous owner who will have the same story. Sad.

I have seen worse that have come back to life, can see the start of Austin Healy 3000 there.
Yes, it does have similar styling. It’s based on Triumph TR2 mechanicals, but had an aluminum body and more luxurious interior.

Every car was once shiny and new. I shot this years ago. Even in this condition, the emblem is still shining.
