180 HP Alpine 1725

Well.. 180hp is achievable out of the Rootes 5 main motors...but.... They don't run restrictive factory DD manifold... Not with that carb and exhaust and the amount of money that's spent on the rotating parts to achieve it is more than the likely selling price.

I note is says the it's the original owner... Maybe he has a tiger and got the power figures mixed up ...

Anyone care to venture a guess about what the special High Performance carburetor is under the air cleaner?

I built a 3.35 x 3.35 Alpine engine for the race car. I've got a Dyno sheet somewhere that shows 185. I posted the build sheet several years ago. It would scoot right a long.

Eric .. id suggest that that motor in your racer was rather better prepared than the eBay car... Cam, head , bottom end and breathing.... However I'm surprised you got 180 out of your 1811cc... Iirc you had a 2 litre± motor at one point.. are you sure the 180hp wasn't from that one?
