    Overdrive problem

Has been asked before, but what fuse rating are you using ? On a side note: Remember that you were searching for a S1 solenoid earlier. Has your solenoid coil been rewired ? P.S. The standard fuse rating should be 35Amps on both switched & non switched circuits. The solenoid draws around 17Amps...

    Early Harrington LeMans for sale

A pity that Jan Iggbom isn't with us anymore, but I understand the difference between early "promotional" and early "production" cars. Nevertheless and appearantly Rootes started to promote the HLM in Europe from this very Geneva Show. Interesting hint about that belgian car. There is another...

    Early Harrington LeMans for sale

Jerry, thanks for the extensive Info. When talking about 5 '62 Geneva cars at least 2 LRX survivors all built around Dec. 61 can surely be attributed to this event: B9109161 & B9109530. The first one previously owned/restored by a club mate was one actually suffering from a cracked/badly...

    X frame repair sections.

Indeed. Quite a rare condition. Body originates from US, but can't tell from where exactly. No papers whatsoever. Seems not California so perhaps from East coast. Driver side sills rotten, but could pull out a passenger side non rotten middle sill. Rare enough. See the picture: Actually a...

    X frame repair sections.

Quite an interesting thread. I'm about to Isolate a near rust free X-frame from a donor S2. Only a bit dented on the passenger side front outrigger, but otherwise near perfect. Need the bits for my MkIa Tiger. Have a look (my private after work garage party today ;-):

    Early Harrington LeMans for sale

Jeff, send me the pictures and the intended price please. Jerry, there must have also been 5 promotional cars for the Geneva Auto Show in '62. How do I know : There are still people (friends) in Switzerland remembering this fact. Unfortunately Rootes forgot to put antifreeze into the cooling...

Initial Startup of New Numbers Matching Le Mans engine

Jerry, after just returning from the UK NEC really good to see your progress. Regarding the run- in oil contamination, I'ld be a bit concerned however. Looks as if your machine shop lacks a bit of cleanliness...

    1962 Alpine driver $5

The original Lake Blue S2 cars only came with bright blue interior and dark blue piping. A very stylish combo (ask James Bond :)) From my point of view one of the most tasty combinations. No black interiors ever. Wonder how many were sold since this colour choice was only offered during S2...

    Bob Brissenden - in memoriam

Very sad to hear that since I knew him personally from several UK events, a visit he paid to our National @ Nordheim in his highly tuned "Autobahn" HLM as he called it and a counter visit to his home in Spain during a Spanish Rootes Club National. A real Sunbeam character who indeed did things...

Sunbeam Alpine: Adventures in Norfolk U.K.

A bit weird. Normally several ring gear screws shake loose which results in extensive noise when the ring gear starts to move. Perhaps only one screw failed with catastrophic result, but up to proper/detailed analysis. Anyway you had fun and that's what counts...
