    1592 for Racing

Hmm. Just found the old invoice from that very company stating 4x 2.0 x 2.0 x 4.0mm rings (50€ each). Give him the adress then he can work out with that company by himself. They are very patient to satisfy whatsoever piston needs...

    1592 for Racing

Michael, sorry, can't tell you the ring brand by heart. Perhaps mentioned on the original invoice but need to check. This is the excellent company where I bought them: https://wahl-spezialkolben.de/en/ However they always desire the piston(s) to ensure perfect fit. What JP oversize are you...

    Crank Shaft Thrust Washers

Oversized thrust washers for 3 bearing blocks are not easy to get anymore plus they won't cure the "zig zag" on the block surface. Better to check out for a less worn 3 bearing block, because every repair attempt such a laser welding will get very expensive...

    Link bushes

No reason for panic. That is how the the outer rubber looks on most of them however the inner bush rubber will still work properly. Replacement by winter would be more than fine...

    HLM project progress...

Bad news. Try to locate the "Alpine" Script holes from another car. Once located you need to bore one or two extra holes at the shown positions. Check the picture:

1962 Le Mans Oil Cooler Installation

I'm not saying oil coolers are useless. The do have their applications for example on race or air cooled engines. What I'm talking about are warmed up street engines with modern radiator cores . Never any problem nor need for an oil cooler experienced. On the other hand they don't do any harm...

1962 Le Mans Oil Cooler Installation

I'll be using a warmed up " big bore" 1800 cc . Fat and reliable - my own recipe. Built it up 17 years before so can't remember all the goodies I put into it anymore. Sitting on the shelve since then. Let's see, but none of my Alpines - except- the SV runs with an oil cooler. A good/refurbished...

    Cracked engine holder

Here we are with a pair of repro ones. Finally opted to go with cast iron since they were a comparative steal vs. the alu ones ( He only made one pair for his race car because of the high cost). The cast ones do look very good despite I still need to cut the threads though. However no big issue...

1962 Le Mans Oil Cooler Installation

Perfect then. Still wondering whether an oil cooler in front of the water cooler is a good idea . Anyway it was original on the HLM. By the way what engine are you going to run?

German Sunbeam National 2026 Ruhrpott 2026

Tim, a very nice compilation and yes we had great fun indeed. In fact we had 50+ cars/ teams attending and enjoyed a lot of "Ruhrpott attractions" along this very long 5 day meeting. We actually were very happy having the rather -big- UK members group attending. A pity that you couldn't make...

    Cracked engine holder

No, that Gulf coloured Tiger is owned by good friend of mine in Switzerland. He is not in fabrication, even though his car is immaculate and very competetive. Markus (our current President/ Orange MkII ) has taken his Race Tiger to Isle of Man back in 2000. Guess who joined him as his mechanic...

    Cracked engine holder

Just got informed that a guy in our club did exactly that, i. e. repros out of billet alu. Think intention was for racing purposes. Have not seen them in the flesh yet, but just bought a pair blind . Will get them in the next few days. Let's see...

Look what i just found during disassembly of my MkIa: Anybody ever seen such a badly cracked holder ? Interestingly it still held that "heavy lump" in place on the driver side. Will try to find a replacement and/or cast welding...
