    Oil cooler kit

The setup wasn't mixing gaskets or mixing oil & cooler blocks.

    Series II - Battery

Hi Don, I did not know that! I'm always learning new things about these cars. I ended up just pushing the ground connector firmly onto the battery post. I haven't had issues. Maybe if I drove my car more I would have an issue with that connection coming loose. I had wondered if the rusty screw...

    Series II - Battery

I expect the battery cable lengths are setup for a specific battery terminal orientation. So keep the terminals in the same orientation as the battery which is to be replaced. My series V terminal orientation is shown below.

    Oil cooler kit

It would be great if someone who has done the swap can confirm there are no issues. At the BASH a few years ago at Joe McConlogue's place, they pulled the later spin-on oil block off an engine which normally would have had a canister oil filter. It wasn't an Alpine, but I think it was a 1494...

    Weber carburetor conversion “fabrication”

You can find the original wiring diagram here: https://sunbeamalpine.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/15-Electrical-System-N.pdf The wire from the ignition switch to the ignition coil was originally white. You are missing the wire from the coil to the distributor. That wire was originally white...

    Brake Servo

When boosters fail, they can cause the brakes to lock on or brake fluid gets lost in the booster, so the brakes will stop working once enough fluid has been lost. You need to remove a bad booster from the brake line circuit.

    fuel sending unit SV

Looks like your stock fuel sender was replaced with something else at some point.

    fuel sending unit SV

Here is a write-up I did for repairing a Series V fuel sender. Includes internal pictures of the sender. Sounds like you might have the same grounding issue I had. http://mhartman.net/files/sunbeam/fuel%20sender%20ground.pdf Mike

Gas cap - vented Series 2

I'm not familiar with the series 2 gas caps. The later series caps have a pin hole in the center to allow air to move in both directions, equalizing out pressure differences. Those tiny holes can get clogged and create a vacuum in the fuel system. How do series 2 caps normally support the...

    Series V Dash

The fuel and temp senders provide the grounds for the gauge readings. The gauge housing being grounded is relevant only to the gauge lights. Check there is power going to the gauges before removing them from the dash, like others have suggested.

    Booster Mk2 color

I would expect it was gloss black.

    Girling 5" booster

Sunbeam Specialties catalog indicates the Series V had 5" boosters up through VIN B395004058. Then there was a switch to the 7" booster. Mike

Series II - Turn Indicator Questions

Based on your previous picture, it looks like you might be able to swap in a longer spring. Maybe that would help improve the connection between the bulb base and the socket.

Series II - Turn Indicator Questions

Hi Semmy, You should start a new thread to debug your issue with the indicator lights. Thanks, Mike

Series II - Turn Indicator Questions

Sounds like you have figured out the issue is with the socket itself. You should also confirm there is good continuity between the mounting cup on the back of the tach & speedo and the mounting posts. You should clean up the contact surfaces on those cups and clean off the rust on the mounting...

Series II - Turn Indicator Questions

You indicated you have tested the bulb by itself and tested the bulb + socket when it is inserted into the speedo / tach, but have you tried testing just the socket + bulb combo alone?

Series II - Turn Indicator Questions

That socket is for the dash indicator lights? What does the dash indicator housing look like? The later dash indicators are all plastic ...

Series II - Turn Indicator Questions

Are your bulb sockets like below? My recollection is the bulb is pushed in and then rotated to lock into place. I've seen fine cracks in the sockets and those sockets didn't work. The center section of the socket is spring loaded to ensure a good connection with the bulb. If the spring fails...
