    Over drive

More info would get better answers. Assuming the engine and non-OD transmission is in the car? You have a trans with OD attached that you want to swap in? If yes, I would pull the engine and trans and swap it that way. Working under the car, unless you have a lift and transmission jack, is a...

    Weber Fuel Bowl Running Empty

If my car sits for a while, the fuel evaporates from the carburetor bowl. I give it a few pumps with the primer, and it sounds exactly like you describe - it's filling the bowl. It's definitely a fuel delivery problem.

A friend saw this around the Cleveland OH area last week. Anyone know anything about it? Mike

Trying to Understand 1725 Oil Flow w/ Oil Cooler

If the hoses you got are for an MGB, are for oil and good to 400 psi, they should be ok. I'm just surprised they are soft enough to squeeze and feel what's going on inside.

Trying to Understand 1725 Oil Flow w/ Oil Cooler

What kind of hoses are you using that you can squeeze them and feel that they are empty? These should be "hydraulic" type hoses to handle the roughly 70 lbs. of oil pressure.

    Type of spark plugs

Heat ranges, etc. only effect long term functionality. A clean plug with the right gap of any type will work just fine for the short term. The spark plugs are not causing an idle problem.

    Break Down and Starter Issue

Have you opened the gas cap when this is happening to make sure it's venting properly?

    1962 - Engine Drain Tap

I use it. If you are changing the coolant, I would think you want to get as much of the old stuff out as you can. I don't remember how much comes out of the block after the rad is drained.

    Sunbeam 2000 build

    Great!

    Sunbeam 2000 build

I hope it works for you. On my stock set-up there was just too much bulk/stiffness.

    Sunbeam 2000 build

I ordered a trunk/boot seal from Victoria British (back before I knew better), and this is the type I received. It was way too stiff/firm - the lid would not close. The correct one just has a thin strip of rubber sticking up.

High Torque Starter from British Starter

To be clear, I was imagining a proper spacer, not washers out at the bolts.

High Torque Starter from British Starter

No concern John. Even a tight fit of the starter into the block does little if anything to stop it from turning - it's always the bolts.

    Clutch Issues

Classic hydraulic system symptoms - leakage or air in the system. Don't waste time with mechanical parts and for heavens sake don't move components around with spacers, etc.

    Torquing the Head After Break-In

These are not "torque to yield " head bolts that modern cars use. You can break those if you re-use them - so I hear.

    Stuck Starter

Your engine is relatively newly rebuilt and you have never driven in snow/salt - maybe not even rain. It should just drop out with the bolts removed. Very strange that it is stuck.

    Fuel question.

The UK uses a different octane rating system. UK 95 is about 91 US. Our "premium" is 93, which I imagine is your 99. Acollin - non ethanol is good for all of the reasons you can read about on the internet and would be good for the Alpine. I don't know where you are able to buy 98/99 in the US...

    '63 Alpine For Sale

Nice looking S3 - sounds like a great deal. I wish I had space for another one!

    Fuel question.

You need to run premium gas (93 octane). You risk damaging your engine with pre-ignition/detonation (spark knock) with 87 octane.
