What is your recommendation for tires for my 1963 Sunbeam Alpine.

I use these tires, even on my Tiger. Excellent grip and they fit. And they are shipped to your door Jan https://www.walmart.com Travelstar-UN106-All-Season-155-80R13-79T-Passenger-Tire-White-Wall (you'll have to do a search on their website)

Series I Alpine Body No and Colour Code

If they can't get the color right, I would take it back and complain to them until they get it right. This is probably the sign-of-the-times where the shops don't put in the time to get it right, or lack the skills or just don't care. And the cost of refinishing products have gone through the...

Each one of these picture montage is a representation of 6-10 hours of shop time spent on this engine project. Most of today was sorting out head bolts to find 8ea. good head bolts. Restoring HB9116754 Lemans

15 years ago, the flat-tops from Victoria-British was all I used in my engine rebuilds. It looks like the current manufacturer just machine's out the 1725's dish-top so lets tell them to skip that operation. Jan

    Restoring HB9116754 Lemans

The "compressed" head gasket should be about 0.030" (from the WSM), and I re-measured the bore. After making those changes(C/R = 8.5:1) it's still below the stock C/R of 9.2:1 (again, from the WSM). Using 4cc dished pistons = 9.1:1 Using flat-top pistons = 9.8:1 (I revised the above image) Jan

    Clutch won't disengage

To use the S3 diaphragm pressure plate & 8" disc, the clutch fork is a hybrid of both the early & late clutch forks. The later fork pedestal is swapped with the lower height, early fork pedestal (The clutch fork needs more height to work right, so it needs the later and higher pedestal). I'm...

I had to use the deeper dished, 1725 pistons in this engine rebuild. I wanted to know how much it affected the compression ratio and so I did the measurements for the C/R calculations. Here's what I have. Jan

It looks like channel locks pliers used to remove it. A 1/2" allen wrench will fit the plug. It shouldn't look like that, the plug should fit flush in the pan. Something abnormal going on. Jan
