2.8 turbo capri

I think Jose put a turbo on one of his early conversions, so I know it can be done, but this is the first I've heard of one from the factory. If Ford did make them, I find it strange that they can't say how many were made.

These are great cars. The Capri had a much wider and longer engine compartment than our Alpines. I had a friend that put a Chevy 327 V8 into a 1974 Capri, without any problems.

We were able to put one turbocharger on a Cologne V6 into the Alpine, but it is pretty tight. It would be nice to have twin turbos on a V6 Alpine, but it was tough enough putting just one on it. The turbo really makes a big difference though.

Hi,

Well it seems that they were produced. I did a bit of internet research and found some information on the turbo capri's. They were only produced for the German market by Zakspeed with only around 200 produced between 81 and 82. Tickford also produced some as well, but only 83 built (due to their near 15,000 pound price tag) between 83 and 87. I have only ever seen the standard 2.8 and 3.1 versions myself. The Tickford engine produced 205 bhp.

Regards, Robin.
