Exhaust manifold

Note that the manifold has only two studs. SV manifolds had 4 studs; I think SIV was the same. I have the same manifold on a S3 GT engine I picked up years ago and have always been curious about it. This would certainly be correct for a S3 - I can't imagine they used a unique manifold for the GT, but I supposed anything is possible - but finding a gasket for it might be a problem.

The series 3GT was the first alpine to use the base manifold. The S3 ST used 4-2-1 headers ( unique to it not the same as Si/II)
During S3 production they switched the cars from twin zenith carbs to the compund solex.. Amd think at that point both cars went to the cast manifold...not sure if the same as the early S3GT or made a new one for both..
So it is possible this manifold was S3 only

Interesting. Thanks, Michael. I was thinking it would be hard to source a gasket, but forgot all about an exhaust downpipe.

I wonder if the judging guides (here and abroad) deduct points on a S3 with the later manifold. The market for this one (to get back to the item actually for sale) is probably small, but it would be important for anyone trying to build a completely correct S3.

My S3 GT had this single down pipe manifold and twin Zenith carbs. The 1725 engine that is going back in has the 4-2-1 exhaust and 32/36 Weber
