Hardtop issue

Almost done with project and fitting the hardtop.
Issue is with the "B" pillar attach point. The fitting in the chassis is 3/8 nf and the bracket on the hardtop is also threaded.
How can this be?

The brackets were re-chromed But that doesn't explain the threading.

Thanks

The bolts that held the hard top at the B piller were tapered below the bolt head! It kept you from loosing the bolt

The original bolts are missing. The mating of the top to the chassis will take some pulling down anyway so I'm going to drill out the bracket and with the tension and some Loctite it should be fine.

Thanks

Sunbeam Specialties is doing the proper early Hardtop bolts. The thread in the bracket prevents them from falling out. Would not bore out the bracket thread otherwise you'll almost certainly loose them. Under the brackets there should be thick rubber pads to avoid rattling...

Welcome. The thick rubber pads are not readily available, but you can cut them yourself from a 4mm thick hard rubber plate. They should match the bracket underside and sit in the recess. A hole should be punched out where the bolt is. Have glued mine in, but sometimes they still may get loose though. Don't ride the Hardtop without them, otherwise the rattling will get nerve cracking...

99.9% finished!

Looking for the two hardtop trim pieces for the S1/2 top that join the rear and side. Either or both.
Thanks
