Here we are into February already!
I have asked Michael Carter- the proud owner of the January calendar car- to share info about his car to start things off. Thanks to everyone who helped make this calendar a great one!

The January Alpine is a 1962 Series II. It’s been in my wife’s family since 1980. Her dad picked it up from a cousin in Indiana with the intention of restoring it. It sat in his garage untouched until July of 2018 when I took it to restore it, with the help of my grandchildren.
While it’s not a concours restoration it came out pretty well. I did all of the work myself. Rebuilding the engine, transmission, driveline, body, painting, etc…. The only part someone else did was to reupholster the seats. This was my first paint job, I’m pretty proud of it. I purchased the soft top from Robbins and installed it myself. It was a fun project.
Spending the winter chasing the pesky oil leaks.

Michael, It makes it all worth the while to see the young ones being involved. Look at their smiles.

Memories are made of this,

What a great set of photos to start off this year-thanks Michael! What you are teaching your Grandkids is no longer taught in any public schools and will stay with them to use for their futures.

Yes, Thank You for the nice compliments. My grandson is a little disappointed though. He wanted me to paint it Red with yellow flames instead of the original color, Lake Blue.

Nice job! If your gonna watch the grand kids might as well have them work on their inheritance. My Grandpa had us kids paint his 39 International panel welding truck with a brush! Straight 8 Buick in the back that ran the welder. Great memories!

Great car, great photos of the process. I surely could use the grandkids this spring for a few days to prep our car. Meanwhile, back to wiring.

There is no substitute for the blend of family history and dedication to rejuvenate a family's automotive heirloom. Some day I hope to emulate your devotion Michael. My many car projects keep me fulfilling a common passion amongst all of us on this site. However, there is one vision that will be taking priority in the next three years as my two grand boys reach an appropriate age to help. I believe their dad, my son.,will be there as well to bring our 1965 Tiger back to roadworthy life. Looking forward to capturing wonderful photo opportunities as you did.

A friend of mine from high schools father owned a body shop. My friend restored a number of classic muscle cars both with his dad and on his own. I recently ran into him after not seeing him for many years. I asked what had become of these cars. He said he still had them, but that his grown children had no interest in them and he assumes they will be sold the day after he passes on. Sad that his kids didn't inherit that interest in classic cars.

I’m fortunate that my car has three generations involved. My dad, who is the reason I am a Sunbeamer, and my son. Btw...it had been a long day. Lol

Love the photos and the story! I hope I can get my granddaughter involved one day too, although she did tell me today that she wants me to paint my SIV purple, so I have to be careful of what I wish for.

Thanks again for a great January write up!
Now on to February
Those that attended SUNI saw something very rare-5 Harrington Le Mans parked side by side.
From front to back in the calendar photo the car's owners are Jerry Logan, Reg Hahn, Steve Meyers, Bob Webb, and Eric Gibeaut.
They came from four states-Washington, two from Ohio, Iowa, and South Carolina and each had a story to tell about their Sunbeams-after all, 2021 was the 60th anniversary of Le Mans production. Many thanks to them for bringing their cars to this special event!
Here are a few more photos taken at SUNI.

March already? The calendar car this month is our 1967 Sunbeam Super Minx estate. Rootes rebadged Hillmans mid 67 exports, makes it a rare combo. Purchased from George Barton 2017 and he got it from Dave Reina has a Denver Colorado oil change sticker from 85’. Power comes from a 1725 cast iron head 1 bbl, as George stated 0-60 in a weekend! Has a BW35 automatic which makes you judge how to pull into todays traffic. Gets lots of attention at shows and on the road. Thanks for adding it to the other fine Sunbeams!
The picture on the calendar show's a deer with a bird house on it’s head, strictly a camera angle!
