Rear End Damage causes lots of problems

For those of you that know Bill and Barb Blue, I'm posting this to inform all that A carless driver ran into the rear of their Alpine and put it out of commission.

Bill was not hurt but the Alpine has been taken off the road.

Contact was made for him to purchase a rolling body Alpine to be utilized as a replacement putting his engine and such into the replacement body.

Pictures of the damaged Alpine will be posted ASAP followed by some of the rolling body.

It will take lots of work so be mindful of Bill & Barb during this time.

Sorry for his loss, even being careful as possible, all wrecks cannot be prevented, other people have no care or concern for classic cars as we do, they just get to throw away and go to the lot and pick another, newer car.. they have no interest or idea the love and time we put into these projects. Best of luck on the rebuild.

Bill, Sorry to hear about your accident, glad to hear you were not seriously injured. Looks like a new rebuild is underway. Going through pictures came across this one from Colorado Springs Suni, Pike Peak July 4th 2014. This was on the way down from the peak and the concourse show. Noticed you and your car on one of the pull offs.

Bill, we can drive like saints but others can still do us harm. I went over 40 years without a ticket of any kind, then got a 71 mph in a 55 zone for doing 58. If you get a bad cop or bad driver, things can go south very quickly. Glad YOU and the WIFE are okay. I took the on-line test to keep it off my record and paid the fine, then learned Clinton Louisiana was under investigation by the State AG. When we get our cars on the road we must be careful of potholes, wet streets, trash on the highway, and crooked cops. Unfortunately, bad drivers seem to hide-in-wait just for our special cars, in which we have so much more than money invested. Seeing your car damaged hurts because I am reminded of my only drive in a Sunbeam...and it was FUN, giving me a much better understanding of the little car. I can only imagine how you feel. I assume the other driver is still alive. The pictures absunbeam posted show your wheels fit inside the fenders, and I think you said those were factory off a European car. A 9000 something. I am at that stage in my build, and would like to know the tech info for those. I love building but NEVER for the reason you must now rebuild. Good luck, and now you can do those minor mods you had in mind. I could say "Look on the bright side" but in this case there is NO bright side I can see. Glad you guys are okay.

I know I am late to the party, but wanted to say I am glad no one was seriously hurt. I am surprised (and glad) there wasn't a fire - that's a bad place for a late series Alpine to take a hit.
