Do Sunbeams use these.? Mine in the Husky is packing up on me, I'm getting a 3+ volt drop across it, so it won't turn the starter motor.

So besides rewiring with a push button starter, anyone know of a source for this cool piece of Hillman.?

Cheers,
Cris

starter solenoid

go to the local auto parts and buy a solenoid for an older ford. take yours in with you and check the terminals are right. the one for a tiger should work.

Bob, if he's using a pull cable type solenoid, and it's more properly termed a starter switch, then one activated by a key won't work as there's no power from the ignition switch to the starter switch. This type has only a pair of terminals that are bridged by a spring loaded arm that the cable pull tugs into contact with the two terminals.

On the old SAAB's with pull rope starting we have found you can remove the lever assy on the starter and just clean the contacts to make them work again. Every time they make contact they arc and over time just need to be cleaned with emory cloth.

I read that too where the solenoid's arc & require periodic cleaning.
If that 'don't float' I'll get with the kind folks @ Moss. Thanks for thinking about this one guys, it's appreciated.!

Cheers,
Cris
