Im in need of engine parts to rebuild my 1960 Hillman Husky 1390. It’s a major rebuild and I know parts are nearly impossible to find so may not be realistic but thought I’d try. Anyone know of sources? Short block? Crank shaft? Etc. Thanks!

Best bets for easy finds are UK Australia and New Zealand. I guess first thing to ask is.. Do you have an engine? It seems you are looking for a complete motor by the post.... You could retrofit later 1500,1600 and 1725 motors... But if keeping original its probably easier to start with the engine you have.. As at least you know what you've got... Rather than another 65 year old motor... Then its a matter of pistons and bearings...

I have an engine in the current Husky - but it’s shot with broken rod, etc and parts are a challenge. So one option is the hunt for parts to rebuild and keep it original. The other option is certainly something like a 1725 retrofit which I’m also looking at. If you’ve had experience with that - what else is involved in that swap? Structure changes? Thanks for any and all help

I believe my old 1725 Minx engine is at the shop that did the heavy lifting (welding) on my twink swap on my 60 Husky.
Fort Collins Colorado is the location. I tried to give it away for free when it was removed, no takers.
Yours if you want it. I'll check to see if it's still there on Monday.

Cheers,
Cris

I recently ended up with a 1390 out of a '58 Rapier, attached to a 32% reduction OD box, that I'd like to find a home for. One freeze plug missing, but no other obvious distress. Stored inside by PO for decades. I may take both apart this spring to check for wear/damage. Too bad NY is so far from Kent, WA.
