Wanted: 2.8 V6 stick shift flywheel

I am having difficulty in locating a stick shift flywheel for the 2.8 V6. Every time I find one and order it, I get a message back that it's out of stock or no longer available. Anybody have a spare one they could sell me? I'd sure appreciate it.

Hi Jim,

If you can´t find a stock one, I would have a steel billet flywheel made for your V6. I did that with the turbo Alpine, and it worked well. I believe I payed $50 for it, but that was a long time ago. The best part of the steel billet flywheel, is that it won´t come apart at high revs, like a cast steel wheel can.

You can also used a Ranger/Bronco II flywheel, but will need to machine the center to about .490 thickness and find or have built a disc.

Hi George,

Are these inded V6 flywheels? it doesn´t say so and the V8 flywheel will not work. I notice that it says 1979, which is a pretty rare 2.8 V6 in these cars. I hope they really are, so that we will have at least four more flywheels to work with. Are there bellhousings available from these cars too?

Another thing that has to be taken into account with V6 flywheels, and that is that the early Capri flywheels (1972-1973 2.6 V6), are different and need a 3/8 shim between the crank and the flywheel. If they don´t have this, the starter will not work, because the flywheel sits too far forward.

Thanks for looking this information up. I´m sure the guys appreciate it a lot.

Can you find the Mustang II timing cover and pulleys too? They is the only other things needed to convert the Alpine to the 2.8 V6 easily. Thanks for all your efforts on the Dark Side´s behalf.
