Transmission Gasket?

Is there suppose to be a gasket between the bell housing and where it bolts to the engine? Mine didn't, and I'm getting ready to get my engine back from the rebuilder :))) and bolt it on, but may need to order a gasket... depending on what's said here. My WSM is at the rebuilder's shop, so I can't look it up.

No, but there is a small plate that bolts to the bottom of the bellhousing to keep the flywheel safe from road debris.

Thanks. I was wondering what that plate was for. I was going to put it back on regardless, but it's nice to know what it's for.
