Wonder what the + or - tolerance is for manufacturing a torque wrench? Are they all exactly the same?

As with most things, greater precision usually costs more.

Where I'm employed has a program to check and recalibrate all torque wrenches, battery guns, and air tools with calibrated settings every three months. That's a lot of tools.

Our engineers set an acceptable tolerance that is probably greater than the tool manufacturers limits but that is only reasonable to reduce tool replacement due to wear. Besides, the tech's operation of the tool probably causes more variance than the tool's inherent tolerance.
