Tiger spec plate

Hi Andrew,

From what I have read and have heard, is that the spec plates were only fitted to the european sold Tiger's. Everywhere else (USA, UK, etc) did not have the spec plate. The European Tiger's were known as Alpine 260's.

Regards, Robin.

Every Tiger was fitted with a spec plate up to a point.
According to BON the last MK I with spec plate was B9473312 but the
rivets and holes remained on the cowl after that with no plate The rivets and holes
ended with the MK IA B382001200. My car, B9473720 has a repo spec plate
from the PO. In looking up the answer to this question I see I'm gonna remove it
and leave rivets only. The PO was replacing something that didn't belong there.

Every Tiger spec plate I have seen contains the phrase Alpine 260
on the bottom, but the cars were externally badged and sold
bearing the Tiger name. A small group of Tigers were externally badged
and sold bearing the Alpine wing script and Alpine 260 badges because they were
sold in European countries where Rootes was not allowed to use the Tiger name.
