The incident actually occured in Sydney, Australia. I don't see why the Sydney morning Herald went into her NZ beauty queen background . Stupid tradesman and stupid woman and her stupid brother for lending her the car.

Robin, sorry to say, but the press is the press, regardless of which continent it is located or the exact media. Anything to fill white space or sell papers/air time. We currently have a president that seems hell bent on destroying the country, yet the mainstream media is busy covering a pedophile in Missouri. After a few decades, it gets very tiresome.

The original item on their website didn't mention the fact that she was Miss NZ (or whatever). That was added later, presumably to fill up the space next to the pictures. In the print edition (on Friday) it took up about a quarter of page 3, far more space than it deserved. Seems the media is the same the world over.
