My question is, Normally what is the average temperature on an Alpine non modified engine? Maybe stuck in traffic in Phoenix on a 100 deg day...

Exhaust gas temp at the head of a average engine will be somewhere around 1200 F. Cylinder head temps can run upwards of 450 F. I live in Tucson and in traffic it is not unusual to see coolant temps of 210 to 230 in the summer. Tucson will pop a 7lbs cap. I am running 14lbs cap.
