SV Steering Box inner Column disassembly?

Anyone have experience in taking the steering box apart?

Number one question: How to take the outer cover off the column.

I have read the section on Steering and am not much farther now than when I started.

I would like to remove the inner column....then re-install.

Thanks,

DanR

Tom O, What are you referring to when you say "pinion shaft" ?

I pulled up (down) the SAOCA WSM 145 Section J (Steering) Figure 3 on Page 12. Looked for "pinion shaft" , it is not listed.

Could you be referring to Item 13. Rocker Shaft ?

Thanks for the help,

I was able to remove the inner column (shaft) simply by removing the three (3) bolts. Of course the fun really began at that time. Ball bearings began to roll around on the work bench.

A review of the Manual (Section J) which I kept handy was lacking proper instructions for this Olde Timer.

I kept going and completely disassembled the whole thing. Washed and cleaned thoroughly.

Took inventory of all parts including the Ball Bearings (14 large and 24 small ones).

Now to get on with my modification that is planned. Then next will be to get everything back together and in good working order.:D
