You sure are having a grand time aren't you:) Love working on my Sunbeams too! Looking forward to you completed project. Knowing it takes a lot of effort to stay on the job. Times flies while at work. Things tend to get in the way but your continued working is making me proud for you. How's the hand? Fully recovered by now hopefully.

The hand is much better, thanks for asking. I have been keeping busy since the vacation, the first wheelhouse I was not really happy with and the first wheel opening because I opened it up too much. It is a lot of fun working on the car, can't wait for it to finish either. I am heading back down to LA for one day to appear on Judge Judy, LOL
Will get back at it when I return.

It is a funny story as I was approached by three networks to hear my small claims case. Maury was not one of them, LOL
We are taping today and hopefully I will win and find out if and when it will be aired. Finally will get my monies and move on.
Speaking of air, I feel like I am in Bejing when I look outside at the air quality here in SoCal. Will be back home today so I can get back on my project and get it done.

I am so glad the forum is back up and running! Thanks to all that make this possible for us, really appreciate what you do.
The drivers side is coming together very nicely, pleased with it so far. I used a string line to sight the alignment, not sure if you can see that it is slightly bulged out to cover the tire. The clearance around the tire looks just right at the moment and will look even better with larger diameter tires and five spoke wheels. I think the stock Alpines look like they sit too high in the back, so was trying to give this more of a lowered look. The most tedious part was setting the gap between to deck cover and the panel where they come together behind the door, it won't take much filler to make that perfect.

Bob, It was that some members and visitors could not log in. Like you I had no problem in that I was logged on when something happened in that particular area of the SAOCA Forum.

A trusty and faithful gentleman (Todd Nordby) (along with Greggers) that handles the internal workings of the SAOCA resolved the error (s).

I hope the problem wasn’t trying to change the site to use SSL (secure socket layer), would change the website to https from http, making it secure. Right now it is not secure. The Crown Vic site I’m on was down for months when the update to SSL failed. You could post, but no one could read the post.

Is it difficult to make the website secure? Can this be done without losing any information on the site?

New trunk hinge mount and the drivers side of the finished trunk is nearly done! WoooooooHooooooo.
Finishing up the trunk floor under the gas tank then I will put the tank back in.

Happy to say that the drivers side is on securely as well as the fuel tank. I bent the tab out that is located near the top front of tank and attached it to the back of the wheelhouse. The lower tab sits on a guide that is welded to the body. The rear is done waiting for the paint to dry so it can be installed. I am happy with the amount of room I have behind the tank to get to the rear lights!

Started to separate the outer wheelhouse from the passenger side quarter panel this morning. Got it done, now working on the fitting to the car wheelhouse and deck cover/trunk. It is so much faster the second time even after taking a week off. More car porn as progress is made.

I am currently trying to sort out the gas filler situation since this quarter panel has a much nicer filler area. I have already added a drain hole that will have a hose attached and allow it to drain outside the car. I was successful in making the stock gas "cap" seal extremely well with no leaks which is crucial in a closed system such as mine. Still on the fence about an inside cap release. In case you have not noticed, the crossover tube has been relocated to the rear of the car since there is room for it now.The new wheelhouse is done and the front part of the quarter panel is attached. I like the fit so it has been undercoated to seal everything and prevent rust.

Today I have been working on merging the sealed cap to the stock flip cap and tank. The base of the flip cap was cut out to make room for the sealed cap. A flange was made to attach the threaded filler tube portion. The first pic is all four pieces cut and ready to assemble, 2,3 and 4 show the progress. I will attach the new flange from the underside with a gasket to longer screws that hold the flip cap base. The modified base still mounts as it should with another gasket underneath. A portion of the outer part of the plastic cap was removed to make everything fit together. This is a big improvement from the way I had it before because removing the cap that was too low made it difficult and the gas tank had to be cut down and I did not like that.

Thanks to ACE Hardware I was able to get 10-32 Stainless machine screws to mount the new cap arrangement, will give it another day to set up before installing so I can do the rear gas tank mount at the same time. 91 degrees outside, no thanks!

Passenger quarter panel finished and getting the gas tanks tied in and mounted permanently. Here are a couple of pictures of the gas cap parts before install.

The objective was met!
From the outside, it looks stock. Open the flip cap and you are greeted with a sealed gas cap. I am happy with it because it also made things alot easier connecting to the main tank. Thanks to Sunbeam Specialties they provided the rubber elbow between the filler tube and tank.

Nice job, you are making some interesting mods.
How are you doing in this heat, I’m south about 10 miles and we hit 100 plus yesterday.
